This is a high-octane wine with some funky, reductive notes on the nose. With time in glass, it reveals lovely ripe blue and black fruit, along with softer notes of violet, olive brine, dried herbs and cola-like oak. There's a fair whack of alcohol on the palate that can be felt, alongside the plush fruit and barrel influence. The muscular tannins are nicely textural but a touch bitter, especially at the finish.
