Thorn Clarke 2019 Shotfire Shiraz (Barossa)

This wine has all the hallmarks of South Aussie Shiraz. It offers plump plum, cherry, chocolate, black olive and peppercorn notes, with a dusty, Aussie bush-scrub element. The palate is less expressive, with a riper feel. Acidity feels a little forced and edgy, and grainy, savory tannins are drying. The alcohol shows here, too. Christina Pickard
