Three Rivers 1999 Sangiovese (Columbia Valley (WA))

The only place this variety works is in Italy. Napa Valley struggles with it and the Northwest should grow something else. The aromas are very gamy, with barnyard and fresh hay. There is some red raspberry fruit and a touch of oak, also a sharp finish. —C.S.
