Three Rivers 2001 Merlot (Columbia Valley (WA))

A very good representation of mid-priced Washington Merlot, this boasts chunky black cherry fruit wrapped in smoky tannins and some chalky earth. Full, dense and still a bit austere, but built to age well for another 6–8 years. Paul Gregutt
