On the nose, this Cab feels rich and heavy, laden with raisin-ing cherry and plum fruit and mint, and a woolly layer of chocolaty, toasty oak. But on the palate it's a bit pinched and thin, with more prominent oak. The fruit is there, framed by a powerful line of tannins, but it lacks the vibrancy to achieve the power-poise balance needed for this variety to work. Christina Pickard
