Tyrrell's 1998 Vat 9 Shiraz (Hunter Valley)

This is an understated kind of Shiraz, without the caramel-and-blackberry typical of some of its countrymen. Instead, you get cherries, brown sugar and stably flavors in the mouth and some drying, woody tannins on the finish. A tar/resin note persists on the nose.
