The nose is flowery and quite out of the ordinary. Flavors of sweet blackberry make for a ripe palate, while the finish is heavier than most, with pronounced woody notes coming on late in the game. It's a thick wine that toes the line of balance. Yet amid all the richness there is some necessary nuance and complexity—just not very much. —M.S.
