Undurraga 1998 Reserva Carmenère (Colchagua Valley)

With a bouquet of dark plum and toasty oak, with an earthy barnyardy note, this wine from this older Bordeaux grape still cultivated in Chile has medium weight and some plum and caramel flavors. In the end, the wood is a bit much for the fruit, and it is not dissimilar to some Barberas from Italy's Piedmont that wear an overweight of oak.
