Utopia 2017 Paradise Estate Reserve Pinot Noir (Ribbon Ridge)

Utopia makes several different Pinots labeled as reserves, this one a mix of Wadensvil, Pommard and Dijon 777 clones. It was fermented entirely with whole clusters and aged in 40% new French oak. Nonetheless it feels just a bit thin for a reserve-level wine, with strawberry fruit and light, fresh herbs. It's balanced well and quickly fades through the finish. Paul Gregutt
