Valcan 2015 Mélange de Vin Red (Rogue Valley)

This Southern Oregon blend is two-thirds Petite Sirah and one-third Syrah, both emerging as real success stories in the Rogue. Initially sharp, peppery and slightly bitter, this breathes open into broader fruit flavors of blackberry. There's a brambly hint of thistle, along with a streak of dark chocolate from aging in 20% new oak. Paul Gregutt
