Van Der Heyden 2000 Chardonnay (Napa Valley)

A controversial wine. Although the winemaker says it has little oak, it seems super-oaky, with overwhelming vanilla and smoke flavors. Also a lot of flamboyant tropic fruit. The combination is huge, bold and distinctive. Certainly not for the faint-hearted.
