Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin 1998 Réserve Brut (Champagne)

Just lightly toasty, with hints of green apple and lime also appearing on the nose. Vividly fresh fruit on the palate, with crisp acidity to give it bite on the finish. Tighter-knit and seemingly drier than the nonvintage stuff from Clicquot, this could use a little time in the cellar to plump up and gain richness. Try in 2008. Joe Czerwinski
