Vidon Vineyard 2017 Hans Pommard Pinot Noir (Chehalem Mountains)

There's a strong scent and flavor of dill permeating this wine, which might be attributed to the use of American oak, though only French oak barrels are indicated in the winery notes. The expected cherry-fruit flavors from the Pommard clone are there but subdued and tart, and the wine borders on sourness as the finish wraps up. Paul Gregutt
