Vigne Chigi 2018 Pallagrello Nero (Terre del Volturno)

This has a shy nose that eventually reveals aromas of black-skinned fruit, moist forest floor, dark spice and a whiff of game. Reflecting the nose, the earthy palate offers dried black cherry, blackberry and clove alongside grainy almost gritty tannins that leave a firm, drying finish. It's not for everyone but it has a rustic charm. Kerin O’Keefe
