There's a bit of mushroomy reduction to start, but give this some aeration in glass and it softens eventually, making room for plump cherry, raspberry, vanilla and savory spice aromas. The palate is equally plump and rounded but with a good lift of acidity that gives the fruit a tangy feel. It's supported by granular, slightly drying, oak-driven tannins, which should soften with a few more years in bottle. Christina Pickard
