Villa Pillo 2000 Sant' Adele Merlot (Toscana)

There's pepper, oregano and root beer on the nose, but no fruit to speak of. The palate is burly, bordering on hefty, with flavors of candied cherries and blackberries. It's too much like a confection. It just doesn't seem balanced and whole. —M.S. Michael Schachner
