This Syrah seems to have been caught up in the rains of 2016. It smells distinctly raw and herbaceous, like olives in brine. A tannic, drawing palate is rough, while this tastes of herbal red plum, cranberry and pepper. A bone-dry finish could use more heft. Michael Schachner
