Vina Robles 2005 Suendero Red (Paso Robles)

This is a new Meritage-style bottling from Vina Robles, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and it's quite a serious wine. It's marked by dryness, firm tannins, elegant currant and blackberry flavors, smoothly integrated new oak and a solid structure. Shows a marked contrast to the soft, melted quality of cult Cabs and should develop for a couple years.
