Von Strasser 2011 Spaulding Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Diamond Mountain District)

Cellar Selection

This is one of the most fruit-forward of the winery's new Cabernets. It immediately dazzles with ripe blackberries, pure and intense, while the fruit flavors on the palate veer into heady liqueur territory, like crème de cassis. Meanwhile, the Diamond Mountain tannins are fierce. The bottom line is a wine that desperately needs aging. Give it until 2022 in the cellar.
