Vortex 2009 Reserve Tempranillo (Horse Heaven Hills)

The new American oak brings notes of vanilla, wood and coconut that largely overwhelms the seemingly green, citrusy fruit. There's a pleasing tartness to the acids but overall the fruit flavors get lost. Sean P. Sullivan
