Wakefield 2018 Promised Land Cabernet Sauvignon (South Australia)

This Cab starts out somewhat reductively, with a barnyard funk on the nose. There's also plenty of red and black berry fruit, however, along with notes of licorice, earthy spice and chocolatey oak. There's a raw, rusticity here that's more apparent once it opens with time in glass. The palate shows elevated acidity and a touch of alcohol heat, along with a bite of drying tannins. An appealing line of dried herbs and spices and juicy berries run through to the finish. Christina Pickard
