Walter Dacon 2007 C'est Syrah Beaux Syrah (Columbia Valley (WA))

A broad streak of vanilla is set against beautifully ripe, tart and polished raspberry and black cherry fruit. This is quite different from the C'est Syrah Belle, which is aged in French oak. Here it's American oak, which brings in the vanilla and a hint of brine (not too much) and lets the fruit really shine. Paul Gregutt
