Waters Crest 2013 Grand Vin Cabernet Franc (North Fork of Long Island)

Bold hits of spice, vanilla, toast and smoke envelop this Cabernet Franc, but beneath it all, there's a penetrating core of berry and cherry flavors that resonates. It's a hedonistic, perhaps aspirational style of Long Island red wine, but anchored firmly in its fruit. Full-bodied in style, it's structured tautly by fine penetrating tannins and a burst of sour cherry acidity on the midpalate. Anna Lee C. Iijima
