Weinert 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

This rusty colored wine shows that Argentina can produce classy, subtle Cabs in an Old World style. Cool berry and cola aromas are sly and attractive, while the mouthfeel is mature but not old. Baked berry and cassis are the key flavors, while lasting tannins interact with plum and other red-fruit flavors on the finish. Drink through 2016. Michael Schachner
