87pointsWestmount 2017 Chardonnay (Willamette Valley)

One of the first 2017 Chardonnays out of the gate, this was fermented in a mix of stainless steel and neutral oak. This puts the pressure on the fruit, never an easy task with inexpensive Chardonnay. Here, it's sharp and a bit thin, suggesting neutral apple flavors. It broadens out a bit in the mouth and brings a light hint of toast, neutral barrels notwithstanding. Paul Gregutt
