Whitecliff 2019 Winemaker's Selection Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough)

This is relatively quiet and watery to begin with but a gentle perfume slowly emerges, reminiscent of grapefruit, green apple skins, green beans and grass, along with a some minor salty reductive notes. There's what seems to be a touch of residual sugar on the palate but it neatly balances the rapier acidity and zingy fruit characters. Christina Pickard
