Wieninger 2004 Herrenholz Grüner Veltliner (Vienna)

Editors' Choice

Hard to mistake this for any other grape variety, given its prominently white-pepper and celery-leaf aromas. A bit austere on the palate, with chalky-mineral notes and leafy flavors. A notch below the excellent 2003, which showed more stone-fruit character, but still very good—and very fairly priced. Joe Czerwinski
