Wild Earth 2017 Pinot Gris (Central Otago)

This Otago Pinot Gris opens bombastically, almost Gewürztraminer-like. It bursts with lemon zest and honeyed pears, waxy and woolly notes, and fistfuls of white flower blossoms. There's a lovely slippery texture on the palate, which is less extroverted than the nose suggests. A lifted line of slightly angular acidity and a finish of fruits and florals makes for a solid offering. Christina Pickard
