Willamette Valley Vineyards 2004 Pinot Noir (Oregon)

Spicy cranberry and rhubarb flavors hold down the center, and the rest is fleshed out with herb, leaf, beet root and earth. Not as ripe as the 2003, it comes across as fairly austere and tannic, and some breathing time and/or decanting would be a good idea. Paul Gregutt
