Wither Hills 2005 Pinot Noir (Marlborough)

. Sweetly oaky, this Pinot doesn't seem to have quite the stuffing it needs to stand up to the heavy coat of brown sugar, cedar and vanilla. Some cherry and cola flavors peek through, ending on crisp, lemony note. A bit disappointing compared to the last few vintages, but at least the suggested retail price has come down. Joe Czerwinski
