Woodward Canyon 1999 Klipsun Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley (WA))

This is the first vineyard-designated Klipsun Cabernet for Woodward Canyon, though the vineyard has its name on dozens of wines from as many producers. This wine is quite tightly bound, and very tannic, with a strong medicinal streak of bitter anise running through it. Earth and iron are also there, knowing the vineyard and winemaker, it has plenty of aging potential. But right now its fruit is buried in tannin. Paul Gregutt
