Yering Station 2019 Reserve Pinot Noir (Yarra Valley)

There's quiet power here, but it's balanced by the inherent fruitiness of this variety Down Under. Structured for the long haul, a decant helps. Once open, crushed flower petals, red berry and orange peel float from the glass, framed by cloves, cinnamon bark, star anise and peppercorn. The palate is threaded with powerful-yet-fine, chalky tannins. There's a tangy cocktail-bitters edge to the plump fruit. Drink now—2030. Christina Pickard
