Zaca Mesa 1996 Black Bear Block Syrah (Santa Barbara County)

One whiff and you know something is different here, and it turns out to be the 20% Viognier that's included. Fairly brisk and tart for a Syrah (once again the Viognier). Nice grip and flavors on the short finish. Overall very fruity, with notes of red licorice. Michael Schachner
