Zaca Mesa 2002 Syrah (Santa Ynez Valley)

A bit lean and constricted on the midpalate, but there is some lovely blackberry fruit, so maybe it just needs a little time to blossom. Hints of black pepper and coffee add complexity, while the finish turns tart.
