Zaca Mesa 2018 Black Bear Block Syrah (Santa Ynez Valley)

Editors' Choice

From the first block of Syrah ever planted in Santa Barbara County, these historic 1978 vines still deliver a distinctive wine. Layers of gingerbread, pepper, purple flower and blackberry show on the nose, while the palate is rugged with meaty flavors of roast beef and rosemary-topped lamb. Berry compote and light pepper spice complete the experience. Matt Kettmann
