Zuccardi 2000 Q Tempranillo (Mendoza)

The nose is heavily barrel dominated: aromas of barbecue sauce and sawdust overwhelm any piquant red fruit that might be hanging around. Flavors of light cherry, molasses and red chilies turn lemony as the oak takes over the palate. This wine really pushes the oak, so much so that it falters. Michael Schachner
