A native Californian, Di Costanzo worked at wineries around the world and for several Napa Valley icons. That included a stint as assistant winemaker to Andy Erickson at Screaming Eagle before he broke out on his own with Di Costanzo Wines. With his first commercial vintage in 2010, Di Costanzo crafts Cabernet Sauvignons that are classic in approach and restrained to delicious effect. His happy place is Coombsville, California, home to some of the appellation’s oldest vines and where he sources fruit for his vineyard-designate wines from the sustainably farmed Farella Vineyard. A new Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, called DI CO, was crafted from the 2016 vintage and is scheduled for release soon.
