A native and self-described “Miami history nerd,” Urrutia is dedicated to spreading the word about Magic City and its cocktails. When not at work as the single-malts ambassador for Bacardi, he runs drinks consultancy Drinkable Miami and organizes Drink Miami Hostel, an annual cocktail event going into its fifth year at the historic Freehand Miami hotel. In addition, Urrutia is the author of the new book Miami Cocktails (Cider Mill Press, 2019), and is co-authoring another with veteran mixologist and fellow Miami resident Julio Cabrera that focuses on the history and influence of Cuban cocktail culture.
