Co-Owner, Guelaguetza Restaurant/I Love Micheladas, Los Angeles
Born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico, Lopez migrated with her family to the U.S. at age 10. She eventually took over their award-winning LA restaurant, Guelaguetza, where she’s built an acclaimed mezcal program. It was a venture that many say helped popularize the spirit in the city. Lopez went on to consult for and help launch Mama Rabbit Mezcal + Tequila Bar, an agave-focused bar at Park MGM in Las Vegas, and, last year, authored a cookbook, Oaxaca: Home Cooking from the Heart of Mexico. She’s also a vocal activist who has spoken in front of world leaders like former Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto to advocate for immigrant rights.
