A dual citizen of the U.S. and U.K., Cottrell started the popular Cru Wine Podcast in October 2016. He found an audience eager for his longform conversations with top wine industry folks. The following year, he moved to California to work at a custom-crush facility, and, soon after, took over as wine director at Barndiva, a family-run, farm-to-table restaurant in Healdsburg. There, he built a reputable wine program of more than 800 wines and hosted grand tasting events like the Fête Blanc in the venue’s stunning garden. Most recently, he founded Monday Wine, a crisp, canned California Chardonnay that’s set to launch in January 2021, and taken on the role of director of sales and marketing at Joseph Jewell Wines in the Russian River Valley.
