Brewing for the better

In the days after George Floyd was murdered, Baskerville knew he had to do something in response. He created an imperial stout recipe that he offered to other brewers willing to donate profits to organizations associated with the Black Lives Matter movement. It worked. More than 1,000 breweries from around the world have signed up to brew Black Is Beautiful and, in doing so, vowed to help bring equality to the beer industry and society at large. “It is still just beer to me, but the beer is what brings attention to the message,” says Baskerville. “It’s the message and the actual commitment to the work is what is most important. If we can do this in the long term, we can change the world.”
