Wine and Spritz
With the ongoing success of her POE and Ultraviolet wines, which include sparkling, rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Cabernet Sauvignon, Sheehan was inspired by a Campari- and Aperol-fueled spritz kick to create Mommenpop, a not-too-sweet, dye-free aperitif, hoping to eschew the hangovers to which she was prone.
Originally just for friends and family, the first batches were made in her garage. Now a successful commercial line, offerings are fortified with brandy and boast fresh, local ingredients like blood orange, ruby red grapefruit and Seville orange, as well as organically farmed grapes and select botanicals. The lively labels are done by Sheehan’s husband, renowned designer Michael McDermott.
