Faced with the challenges of the pandemic, co-owners Daisy and Greg Ryan turned their efforts to their staff and community in Santa Ynez Valley.
The pair started a nonprofit called Feed the Valley that helps feed food-insecure seniors and others in the community. They also now provide full-time staff with 100% employer-sponsored healthcare coverage and moved to a service-included model to pay all employees above the living wage for the area.
“We need to continue to evolve and think about our staff first and foremost,” says Greg. “By no means do we have all the answers, but we feel by continuing to support and engage with our staff and our community on a very deep professional level, in turn we’ll see the kind of results that help make a restaurant successful.”
