Fred Castellucci, president and CEO of Castellucci Hospitality Group, the parent company of Cooks & Soldiers, emerged as an industry leader during Covid. He and his team launched the Feed the Frontlines campaign to provide meals for Atlanta healthcare workers, helped start the hashtag #GAHospitalityTogether to promote safety measures via a unified coalition of restaurants, and created “CHG For Change,” which matched contributions to the racial justice organization Color of Change with a gift card to its restaurants.
At the restaurants, all managers were kept at full salary, and despite dining restrictions, offered some form of lunch and dinner, seven days a week. Cooks & Soldiers also hosted a steakhouse pop-up to rave reviews.
“Like all small businesses during challenging times, we relied heavily on our guests,” says Executive Chef John Castellucci. “But we found they relied heavily on us, too, to provide a sense of comfort and normalcy to their meals.”
