As contemporary-cool as its art museum digs, this restaurant pairs the playful Asian-accented dishes of acclaimed chef Ignacio Mattos with a France-heavy wine list that goes for elegance over power. The 300-plus selections include a range of hard-to-find back vintages.
From the Sommelier: “I’ve noticed a surprising degree of inclusiveness and humbleness when it comes to exchanging knowledge within the industry. People are hungry for information, and rather than being closed off, somms and winemakers are usually happy to engage and share what they know. I don’t think this was always the case; according to some, sommeliers used to be brusque and dismissive when confronted with questions—but acting stuffy was usually a defense mechanism to hide the fact that the sommelier didn’t actually know as much as he pretended!” —Matthew Kudry, Flora Bar
