Hen of the Wood’s goal is to connect diners to Vermont’s environmentally conscious family farms; similarly, the wine list focuses on family-run wineries and grower-producers who work sustainably. All servers are given sommelier training as well as weekly in-house education.
From the Sommelier: “We only support small, family-run wineries and farmers that work with a minimalist touch in both the fields and the winemaking room. This shows the true expression of the wine and the region that it comes from. All the local farmers we buy our food from, we expect that they work in a sound agricultural way and let the product speak for itself. We take this same approach to our wine program. We highly believe in the families that make any wine on our list and love to tell their story.” —William McNeil, Hen of the Wood
