Proprietor and Wine Director Desta Maree Klein took over the wine program in summer 2017, with a clear mission in mind: “I wanted to make it easier for people to explore.” As a result, the restaurant now boasts a vast selection of wines available both in half- and full-glass pours, with a strong focus on French terroir, from Vin du Pays to first-growth Bordeaux.
From the Sommelier: “Personally, I’m excited about Bordeaux. There is a bit of a revolution happening as the region responds to climate change. Bordeaux is now produced to drink younger, as there is just not the patience to wait 10-20 years as it used to be. There still are legacy wines, but even the great Châteaux are making blends meant to be drunk younger. Further, there’s an acknowledgment of organic and biodynamic growing methods—beyond certification—in the growing, care, and production itself. The city, the region, the wines—all of it is in a renaissance.” —Desta Maree Klein, Meritage
