Owner James Mark immediately prioritized employee health and safety. While his menu of “noodles and not noodles”—enticing offerings like banh mi, with lots of vegan options—was made available for takeout, even pickups were timed and spaced out. Before reopening for in-person dining, Mark made sure every member of staff who wanted to get vaccinated was able to.
His care for the community doesn’t stop at the restaurant’s door, though: When ordering takeout from North, guests could opt to buy a meal for a person experiencing homelessness or participating in last summer’s protests.
