Wine list descriptions like “some rustic Italian salami wine,” and a $36 bottle list are hallmarks of Wine Director/Partner Brent Braun’s stated goal to appeal to young wine drinkers at this new, natty-focused establishment. A tight, wine-friendly food menu by Executive Chef/Partner Justin Woodward shows this restaurant is not all fun and games.
From The Sommelier: “Portland has always been a beer and cocktail town but it’s finally becoming a city where the under-40 crowd is beginning to embrace wine drinking like they do beer and cocktails. This year was a big year for Portland, with 4 or 5 wine-focused bars and small restaurants opening, and it really helped create awareness about what the new wave of wine drinking can be like. And for us, that new wave means, more fun, bright, high acid, playful wines and more affordable pricing. It means that when the night starts getting late, you can make the decision to go to a wine bar and have just as much fun and get the same vibe that you would get at a cocktail bar.” —Brent Braun, OK Omens
