Washington State was one of the first to close indoor dining as well as winery tasting rooms, leaving a wine-oriented town like Walla Walla especially vulnerable. Yet the Walla Walla Steak Co. found a way to maintain a sense of community with guests as well as the winemakers it works with closely.
“Our monthly virtual winemaker dinner events gave people a chance to experience a multicourse dinner that they finished in their home ovens, and then gathered on Zoom to meet some of our chefs and some top Pacific Northwest winemakers,” says Managing Partner Dan Thiessen. “Our guests were able to safely celebrate special occasions, feel connected and have fun. These virtual events were a nice silver lining for our guests and our team, and we plan to continue offering them.”
